Grand Forks Downtown Development Association hires executive directorThe Grand Forks Downtown Development Association has hired its next leader.

The downtown advocacy group hired Alexander “Blue” Weber to replace Executive Director Sarah Prout, who announced last month she would leave the organization at the end of March to become the marketing director for the UND Alumni Association Foundation.

Weber said in the same release that he looks forward to working with the DDA’s partners to “continue to create a more vibrant community, as well as developing the strategies in how to make that happen.”

Weber is the executive director of Alley Alive and a supervisor for Starbucks. He also was a general manager for Dakota Harvest Bakers.

Prout’s last day was March 28. Weber will take on the position by early May, Horak said.

Weber is the son of Grand Forks City Council member Bret Weber.
